一般的に（テレビも、映画も） 家で見る 場合は watch。 映画館など 家の外で 見るときは see を使います。
テレビを見る – I’ll watch TV. が一般的な テレビを見る の表現ですが、watch TV の後の at home が省略されていると考えます。
watch = 家で見る なので、レンタルDVD の映画を見るときも I’ll watch DVD movies. となります。
seeは外で 主に映画を見る時に使い、 go see （見に行く）の go が省略される場合が多いです。
ex) Let’s go see a movie.

To “go see something” applies to more than just movies.
ex) We can go see a play or an art exhibition.
ex) We went to see a movie yesterday.

see a movie /ˈsiː/: going to a movie theater to see one of the movies that’s playing
ex) I saw a movie on a large screen and watched a movie at home on a small television set.
